Thankfully, as the sun sets over a freshly mown orchard, the new pond has drained...Luke decided he wasn't upset enough to refuse dinner and a hairbrush and a warm shower will resolve my bruised ego. Take care, keep safe, M
Ever had one of those days when everything went wrong... Welcome to my world today. It started well...Greg brought me my cup of tea in bed (yes ladies...I am that lucky !) from there it went down hill very rapidly. A hasty shower turned very hasty as I got in..... having neglected to check the water temperature ( not smart )..and COLD. I'm pretty certain I got at least two new wrinkles last night, I poked my eye with the mascara brush and put my T shirt on inside out. Clearly the stars were not shining on me today. Quest and Charm's stalls rated as a double national disaster, the cats threw up in the barn yard and Luke had a melt down. After lunch and determined that things could not get worse, I resolutely trundled off on the little John Deer mower into the wildly overgrown Orchard. Last week it had been a dry parched desert, this week, after some well overdue and very welcome rain, a tropical jungle. My ride on mower is currently a little (lot) challenged, the battery is very low and a contaminated fuel pump is making for a less than smooth ride....but apart from that, it's FINE ! Hose pipes from the Summer's irrigation and resident wild life, grass snakes....fleeing rabbits, irritated hornets and huge mole hills were a challenge. Low sweeping branches and falling apples raked my hair and bounced on my head, bark, leaves and flying dirt whirled in the air....I had just mowed there...how did that dandelion still exist ? Rapidly losing the will to live ( or, to be precise, mow), I headed resolutely back to the barn... noticing from the corner of my eye ( sore from the collision with a mascara brush and umpty ump attacking branches) Greg's irrigation pump well rapidly filling with bubbling, murky, muddy water. " I DIDN'T do it " was my first response as I watched him heading for the scene of the potential disaster. .....sadly, I did. My day just deteriorated even further when a stony faced Greg stared into the ( not my fault) hole) which was quickly turning into the (my fault) new ranch pond. The running hose pipe I had so carefully saved from the blades of my struggling mower had still been flowing.....ooops. I hastily called on the ranch "no blame policy" and trundled off to the barn to nurse my hurt pride.
Thankfully, as the sun sets over a freshly mown orchard, the new pond has drained...Luke decided he wasn't upset enough to refuse dinner and a hairbrush and a warm shower will resolve my bruised ego. Take care, keep safe, M
