How to make your garden grow
'Poo' Generators at the Feed Station
Down on the ranch, poo has a wide variety of names (usually and often used by Greg) and it is never in short supply. Horse poo, goat poo, sheep poo chicken poo and cow poo, everything generates a mountain of the stuff every day. My grown up sons who live in England (too far away to be useful !!) describe farming as " putting food in one end and cleaning up after the other end" . I guess I have to agree! Our first chore in the morning after turning the animals out to pasture is always mucking out, I compare this mundane time of my day to opening the mail in my other life at the office, tedious but necessary. The assorted variety of manures (except the chicken) are collected into a huge cocktail and covered and turned by Greg until it cooks into a wonderful dark rich compost. We do sell the manure for $15 a large pickup load. Smaller loads are prorated according to the size of the box. Greg will load the manure for you with one of the tractors. Chicken poo is included in the mixture.
