We are a little concerned for Gertie and Gustav, the visiting Canadian Geese have become very territorial and appear to have established a clearly defined "no go area".....as in anywhere on the ranch ! We frequently hear Gerties distinctive call as she flies around the barn but the visiting gander almost always prevents them from settling in the pasture or on the pond and sadly poor Gertie has to fly on. The visitor has started to get aggressive with us too, we like to think of ourselves as conservationists, we like to do our part to encourage nature...but if Mr Gander continues to treat us as unwelcome guests in our own pasture, we may have to consider serving him an eviction order !
We have a new farm resident. We would like to welcome Midnight and his significant person, Jordan. Jordan has been a great friend of the farm for many years and we look forward to sharing more special moments with her and Midnight. Midnight is a black Morgan and he does have some medical issues but I'm sure that he will thrive here and we will all learn from another new horse personality and his particular condition.
Well, the rain seems to have stopped, momentarily I'm sure but maybe it will just give us enough time to get the animals back in from the pasture before it starts again. Looking on the positive side...I guess this means we wont have a water shortage this year !!! Take care, keep safe, M
