We missed our A team!

Happy Tuesday! Looks like it’s going to be another HOT day!! Don’t get me wrong, one little sun ray peeping through the clouds and I’m out there trying to absorb all that wonderful vitamin D…B…one of them ( oh yes, and of course all those nasty UV rays too!!!). I blame it all on my English heritage, Summer lasted 3 days and only one of them MAY have been sunny. Back to my point, sweltering heat is great when you have nothing to do but ranching in 80+ degrees is tough. Derek and Lesley took their well earned day off in Seattle yesterday, I was glad to hear that they had a lovely day….and even happier to hear that they were excited to get back to the ranch. If I hadn’t realized just how much help the A team Woofers are, yesterday we were made painfully aware. Just to add to all the fun in the blistering heat…poor Carlos our farrier arrived to trim and shoe Lady and Quest the Shire horses. Lots of sympathy is extended to Carlos at any time of the year but trying to work with those huge draught horses in those temperatures can’t be much fun. Nara spent some time marvelling at his patience and skill trimming those huge hooves, I spent hours just praying that Quest wont lose patience and with one gentle tap send Carlos far enough into space to join the International Space Station ! Nara is becoming more acquainted with Hol-ley our new calf with an overdose of cuteness and has been helping Greg milk Molly her moody mom with attitude. Nara also got to learn to drive the quad, my suspicion is that a speed queen lurked under that straw hat! My lessons on basic Arab are going well…sort of…my cheat board has been invaluable but cant seem to master the rolling rrrrrrr sound that seems integral to almost every word…blaming it on being a Brit, but at least I’m having a go!!
Danielle our little Doeling that thought she could climb trees and fly is showing some signs of improvement. or maybe I just want to think she is ! Dr. Maci from Clover Valley Veterinary office has very kindly offered to x ray her today. Hopefully her injuries are soft tissue, we don’t care to consider the alternatives.
Azam helped Greg set up some irrigation pipes and it was good to see them both out in the field working together, amazing how a  language barrier is no longer an issue if both parties want to overcome it!
Well, time to go, I have to go and find Lamb Chop a hat, due to popular demand!! Yesterday our mucky ram had his butt washed but I was under pressure and the most he got was a carrot!
 Take care, keep safe, M
