It’s Sunday, still dark out there, Bran the Border Collie is not too quietly snoring by my feet, I have a nice hot mug of tea by my side and the weather forecaster enthusiastically assures us that there will be no rain for the foreseeable future. Good morning America !

No rain in the sky, the grass is burnt, the trees are tinder dry, the Spring flowers are starting to show, the Magnolia is flowering and Winter still seems a long time away !

Anne and Malc are safely back in their City home, far from the sound of the running creek, the eagle calling, the horses neighing…oh yes, and Daisy May Mooooing. We will miss you two, hurry home. Daisy May hasn’t yet delivered her long awaited offspring, every grunt groan and moan has us hastening to check the progress of the partition that isn’t yet !! There are, it has to be said LOTS of grunts groans and moans, Daisy May is VERY large, very pregnant and now overdue. Fortunately our big Dexter cow is very tolerant, Daisy has been prodded poked and squeezed, she has been scrutinized and her due dates have been checked and re checked. We will possibly head down to the barn this morning to find Mom and calf happily bonded and we will missed it all !! DOH

Yesterdays project was to extend the cow pen. Daisy May quietly observed the proceedings whilst munching on whatever delicacies we could slide in her direction to keep the mom to be content. Greg hammered and banged and Daisy May moved her oversized bovine butt for another back massage. Fence panels were passed by her and Daisy May raised her big black head for another neck scratch. The cow ghetto was transformed into the Ritz and when Molly Moo and the cow family returned from a hard day out in the pasture there was ample space for the hormonal cow to have her calf in peace and tranquillity….human and bovine curiosity excepted.

I have been timed out, time to move, it’s 7.20 and we could have a surprise down in the barn.

Take care, keep safe, M
