Derek and Lesley took the Chevy out for lunch yesterday. Braving the commute and the heavy traffic ( well, there could have been two cars and a logging truck!!) they headed down south of the Peninsula for part of their day off. We missed them but are glad they had a fun day...(and we got our truck back!!!).
Our day started very well,( not) we opened the gate to put their sheep into their assigned pasture, the one they have been munching their way through, the one with lots of grass and running water and clearly the one they have decided to boycott. The whole flock divided like the parting of the Red Sea and me like Moses stood in the middle just watching them leave. Bran was in Heaven, something to chase but it was all too late, the ladies had their minds and their eating machines set on the grass on the other side of their fence. A little problem arose randy Rodney was now in VERY close proximity to his harem and there was only one fence between him and total nirvannah!!
Quatra trimmed Gimpeys feet unassisted and alone. If we hadn’t known of her intent the purple spray from her wrists to her finger tips would have been a tell tale sign. She now looks like she has been treated for leprosy or worse, we’ll keep an eye on her!
Dolly and Molly gave us all a scare last night, our two bovine mums in waiting looked like our wait was over. Dolly and Molly aren’t due until the 21st but we are now on calf watch….I don’t think that there will be much chance of the calving going un noticed, Holly and Quatre were welded to the stall posts with eyes firmly fixed on the working parts..that weren’t yet working, it wont be long!
Holly and Quatra got to work fixing a gate and for several minutes, thingamijig, whatsit, whatdyacallit and the thingys were the order of the day. One telling photograph shows it just how it was, two girls on the floor with thingys, me holding on to the whatsit ….and Greg stood a few feet back….silently observing !!
It’s nearly 7 30, I have beaten the cuckoo clock but I think some eggs need to be washed, quality assured and packed,...got to go. Take care, keep safe, M
