There's a storm moving in

At LEAST $5.....possibly more like $10, thats what Greg owes the swear jar this morning, and thats a conservative guess ! We were in a bit of a rush, the Excel truck was coming " sometime tomorrow" which gave us a 24 hour window, one of Gregs virtues is that he is ALWAYS punctual..which usually means we are always early so, before 7 this morning we were down in the barnyard. The rest of the world was still asleep, the chickens, feathers all puffed out, were dozily lined up in orderly rows on the perches, the goats were lazily draped over their benches, the horses snoring loudly standing in their stalls and Molly and Dolly the cows were in a bovine scrum head to tail, both hopefully in calf, both as wide as battleships and if all goes well, both due to calve in late July. Just as we got to the barn, truck engine still running the grain truck appeared. Well..... that opened the proverbial floodgates, we were "late" ( actually, truck was early but discression being the best part of valor I kept quiet, exit stage left and  penance for his swearing would be issued later, much later  !!!) Greg "expressed himself " the newly made grain silo worked just like it was meant to and I earned this weeks pocket money in one fell swoop, it's all good. I think maybe we could request a slightly less open estimate for delivery  for the next  time...like 12 hours ?? smile.
Gimpy Annie and Speckles are all looking like the nursery is going to be occupied very shortly, clearly, walking is an issue when you have a milky bar between your back legs and the ladies are looking exceedingly miserable.
It would seem like Spring is in the air if I hadn't heard this mornings weather forcast, the sky is deceptively blue and cloud free, the wind is gentle and we have had just the odd raindrop to remind us it is still Winter in Seattle. The depressing forcast is heavy rain and damaging winds, I'll take the first option if I may ! Spring has a strange effect on the barnyard residents. I guess thats how the "mad March hare" came into English folklore, Spring fever even gets into the normally placid Lady, our Shire Horse mare gets a feisty skip in her normally steady plod. Hassan (aka the Terrorist) doesn't need Spring fever to get him stirred up and Charm, the palamino just uses any excuse for a bit of attitude.
Well, time to go, I'm sitting here in the barn kitchen snug and toasty warm in the heat of the wood stove. While I have been sitting here typing with my 2 fingers, the sky has turned grey and significant and quite threatening clouds are obscuring the previously clear blue. Looks like we may be in for some serious weather. Take care, keep safe. M
