Thanksgiving is a really worthy holiday and any holiday that is 4 days long has got to be really good but I have a few issues with it.... as an alien. My first problem is the HUGE turkey dinner, now please don't misunderstand me, I love turkey, I probably loved turkey a lot more before I got so up close and personal with them. That bird in the oven stuffed with garlic herbs breadcrumbs celery and bacon was once Tom the Turkey,....soprano in my GGM Ranch Choral Society, his "gobble" is simmering away in the gravy pan and to add insult to injury...Thomassina, my alto is a frozen corpse waiting to grace the table at Christmas. That brings me to my next point.....Thanksgiving is a huge Turkey dinner, Christmas is ANOTHER huge turkey dinner....all that cooking and washing up and only a few weeks between them !!!! In England we at least have a reasonable gap between big feast days, April and chocolate Easter eggs then Christmas..turkey is a novelty. You don't have to wash up after Easter eggs !! My other issue... and I will try to be delicate , pumpkin pie ! Apple pie, blueberry pie, ANY kind of pie works but Pumpkin pie ???? Greg introduced me to this American delicacy on my first visit to the states, admittedly, the pie was a store bought delight and, Greg being on the frugal side probably didn't buy the most expensive one in the store but refrigerator cooled baby diaper poo ( told you I would try to be sensitive,...but it's difficult !) in pastry somehow sent the taste buds into hiding and it has had a permanent psychological effect on me, ( are you sorry for me ???)everytime anybody mentions pumpkin pie I start to quiver. Yesterday was Thanksgiving and yes it is a truly wonderful holiday and I would like to give thanks. I would like to give thanks for Michelle and my bearded angel Dave who arrived at the farm gates yesterday morning before us to get the farm chores done early so we could have a few hours to relax. I would like to give thanks to Michelle Dave and Brian ( honourary Brit) for bringing round a turkey dinner knowing that we were so busy on the ranch we didn't have much time to prepare dinner. Michelle we lOVED that dessert, please can I have the recipe !!!?? I would like to thank Denise, Barb, Chris, April, Linda and Jerry and dearest Spence for helping Greg to make sure that everyones orders are met. We love you all and are SO thankful for you. I'd like to thank Mom for everything and my newly adopted Mum for coming into my life. Big cuddly Tony, my East Coast brother in Law I give special thanks for, he has been our saviour SO many times and Greg drives him crazy but he keeps coming back !!I'd like to thank everyone that has befriended and supported us and I'd like to thank Greg ...for putting up with me !!! Maybe I do love Thanksgiving after all ! Got to go, eggs to wash. Take care, M
