We had a equine emergency yesterday. Somehow Charm ( beauty with LOTS of attitude !) with a couple of acres of grass to roam managed to find a nail (hopefully the only nail in his pasture) which lodged in his frog. I noticed from the house that the attitude was missing, Charm with no attitude was a clear indication that we had a problem...and a quick check of his hoof showed a nail head buried in his hoof. The size of the nail head indicated a big nail but Greg managed to get it out and luckily the nail wasn't as big as he thought and rather than go up into his foot, it was curved. Fortunately, Mrs Panic, Mrs "what if", (me) was confined to the house so Greg didn't have me to worry about as well !, Quick panic check and I am reassured, Charm is no longer limping and attitude is back. All's well.
Chance the little white lamb has become a little sweetheart, frantic for her bottle, she drinks so fast and without taking a breath that she gets hiccups. When her bottle is empty and still hiccuping Chance rolls into a ball, head under my arm and goes to sleep. We learn something new every day and yesterday we learnt about diapers...wow, things have really changed in the world of diapers ( nappys)...they dont get wet !!! pee crystalizes and the diaper is still dry but full of crystals. Clearly it doesn't take much to impress me, but I have not so fond memories of towelling diapers soaked and my house looking like a Chinese laundry with diapers draped over radiators to dry. Obviously I had my children in the wrong century. but I thank the diaper industry for keeping my little white lambs butt clean and dry.
Summer is coming and we are looking forward to 3 Woofer interns who have clearly not been scared off by our web site and are going to come to the ranch and spend some time with us. Thank you for choosing our ranch, we hope that is an experience that they look back on favourably. We had lots of good times with our Winter Woofers, it was a great experience and we remember them fondly. A stranger is only a friend you do not know and hopefully our potential ranch hands will leave us with great memories.
Times up, I need to go for a walk...then it's jigsaw, book, computer lessons with "how to do almost anything on the computer",.. somehow I learnt to double underscore (why ???) but I cant delete the underscore and it's not in the "how to" book. maybe I'll pass on the computer lesson....I'll go for a nap. Take care, M
