She thought she was smarter than us !

She thought she was being clever and she had been ! ….but she was found out, little Mica has a sharp eye and the clutch of eggs hidden behind the board didn’t go overlooked. One crafty little white leghorn must have got the urge to be a mom and 12 dormant white eggs were just waiting to be woken up. We stole the hidden clutch, the incubator is now in the kitchen, in a week we will candle them and see if the crafty white hen had got over familiar with one of our resident roosters. If the eggs are fertile, in three weeks wanna be mommas’ chicks will hatch…we wait and watch.
This afternoon when I came up to the house, there was an unfamiliar noise, a low buzzing sound and I couldn’t find the source. I wandered the house, I beat up the freezer in the hope that the ice maker had jammed and the buzzing was from there, I stood under the light, I , had my ear over the computer, I investigated the television and the sound was still there but where was it coming from?.. Call Greg, ..Mr Fixit can always solve my issues and there I stood….next to the incubator..which was buzzing and had been buzzing since we put in the dozen white eggs with a bowl of water and a sprinkle of good luck ! There it was, mystery solved, the incubator was the cause of my concern. DOH, ever felt really dumb?
Rodney the ram has fallen out with me, I am no longer his favourite peanut person. It wasn’t his pedicure or even his shave, I am to blame in Rodneys brain for the pretty strong shock that lit up his nose. There I was, raising the flags and as usual Rodney mooches over to check out the status of the treat sack. Whilst I carefully ensured that Old glory and the Union Jack were flying the right way up ie. stars up in the left hand corner and (not quite so easy) the thick white line at the top of my flag, Rodney the ram waited not too patiently. Rodney the rams nose was getting scaringly close to the electric wire, Rodneys dewy wet boxy nose was in real peril of a shock which was capable of giving him a jolt enough to cause him to forget any thoughts of hitting the ewe pen for a short while (but only a short while!).It happened! Rodneys nose crackled and zapped, Rodneys body seemed to jump backwards by itself and Rodney forgot about my peanut. Rodney is now very cautious when I am around, I don’t know how he thinks I did it…..but I know for sure, I got the blame. Poor Rodney, he has had a traumatic week!

Whilst I’m online, it’s Maureens’ dating service. I’m looking for an older gentleman, looks not important, kind and a hard worker……NO, not for me, I’m not looking in the lost and find pages, I'm sticking with my 14 year old model and no trade ins needed or considered. A very good friend of mine needs a smile back on her face and a reason to be.
Well, back to the real world, it's 7.20 and time to get down to the barn. Take care, M
