Safe travels Wesley!

Hooray !!!! Quest has a forward gear!  Our big baby, all 19 hands of him has, from day 1 been a sweetheart with a touch of attitude. He was born in 2005 here on the ranch so we have shared every day and every experience with our Shire gelding, including our less than consistent attempts to back him. In 2007, he first had a saddle…. and Greg (without a parachute) on his back. Thankfully Quest has never exhibited his very impressive and extremely scary buck whilst under saddle, he has never bolted and never reared ( thank goodness!) while we are on his back. Watching that huge draught horse in the pasture, galloping bucking and rearing just for the joy of living has made us very aware of his power and strength ….and how lucky we are that, so far, we haven’t had to deal with a Quest temper tantrum. Yesterday Wesley took him for his most recent lesson and for the first time, our 4 legged student walked without someone on the leadrope. Quest had been trained from day 1 that if the leadrope is dropped…he stops..and he does!!! even when you don’t want him to, because that is what we taught him. DOH. So we are having to untrain him now. Wesley persuaded him with heel and crop to keep putting one huge feathered foot in front of the other and, like a petulant overgrown child he walked and he carried on walking…all around the pasture for the first time. Thank you Wesley!

Wesley and Greg upgraded the sheep pen some more yesterday. After Derek and Lesley’s beautifully made hay racks were installed, Greg and Wesley gave them a new front door. The sheep now have 4 star accommodation to poop in!

So, today Wesley is leaving, she hasn’t been here very long but quickly became part of the family. Any farm that is lucky enough to have Wesley Woofering for them will be very fortunate and we are going to miss her. Good luck and safe travels Wesley!

The cuckoo clock says it’s nearly time, the cow is still showing the British flag and the sun is going to shine. Take care, keep safe, M

thanks for watching over Wesley! She is much loved and MOST missed back home and to know she is loved where she visits makes the missing a bit easier. Blessings to you both and your wonderful farm!
