It's always a good day on the ranch when we have a visitor...or two..or..(.especially when the visitors are young and enthusiastic !) Yesterday Gig Harbor lent us two youngsters who just had the BIGGEST smiles. The three amigos, Daisy Mae, Lamb Chop and Macho always know that visitors mean treats...a treat for lamb Chop being a peanut ( preferably a whole bag of peanuts), Machos treat of choice being carrot or apple and Daisy Mae just wants that scratch so badly. The children were happy to oblige and Lamb chop, the ugliest lamb we ever bred got all peanutted out. The goose family took advantage of the sunny afternoon and went for a leasurely swim on the pond. A quick count could find only 5 goslings paddling with mom and pop...one little fluffy gosling is missing and nowhere to be found. Rocky racoon or Wiley Cayote are clearly keeping a close eye on the goose family, mom and pop goose are going to have to be wary. Lady and Quest were grazing out of sight over the rise in the pasture. It wasn't long before the huge shires responded to my calls and Quest came galloping across the pastue with Lady close behind. The children were I think momentarily in awe at the size of the horses peering over the gate at them but it wasn't long before little hands with carrots were disapearing into huge mouths. Next visit was to the sheep pasture, where Speckles, Annie and Bandit took a little persuading to come and visit but peanuts and big children smiles won them over. Chance our little survivor took a little finding, I guess she was sleeping off her lunch with her little lamb buddies, ( the brat pack !) but once she discovered children and peanuts the fluffy little white lamb just enjoyed being the cenre of attention ( as if she isn't all the time !!). We paid a visit to the Roost, where the children checked out the nest boxes and found 2 newly laid brown eggs for their breakfasts. The chickens clucked and fussed at the corn thrown for them after being reassured that Adolf the Rhode island Rooster would sooner check out the corn than eat young Dillon. We hope that the children went back to Gig Harbor with some happy memories that will stay with them a long time...thank you Jean for bringing them over for the afternoon, it was fun. If you have a moment , new photos have been downloaded on the 2 photo gallery pages, we would be happy to share them with you.

Time to go, it's raining out there, I feel a frizz coming on ! DOH !!!! Take care, keep safe, M
