What to do with Turkey Lurkey ??? We always knew Turkey Lurkey was "different"....one of our batch of heritage turkeys arrived looking "not quite normal" and after noticing that she had become a trampoline for the others we transferred her accomodations to a deluxe 4 star bird cage for intensive care treatment. TL walks on her knees, balancing her weight on her wings she scoots around her cage with attitude. Bless her, she' s bright, noisy and active but how long can a turkey with attitude but no legs stay with us ? Life without quality of life.....we have a decision to make, poor Turkey Lurkey. On a brighter note, the barn swallows chicks have hatched so all the horses have little piles of bird poo on their backs in the morning. Walking into their stalls has become a hazard with ariel gymnastics going on overhead and kack bombs falling all around us ( hopefully, sometimes they manage to land on us, yuk !) . Gertie the lovelorn Canada Goose has gone, despite all her courting, Quest remained aloof and she remained unfulfilled. The circle of life goes on, Gertie, her Mom and Dad are gone till next Spring.
