Sadly today was the last day that Chance would be a " house lamb ", Greg was concerned that she would become too humanized as she spent her whole time on my lap, wrapped around our feet, skipping along behind us or under foot....I know he is right and I want to do the best for her but she is so loveable and she has no mommy to love her up down at the barn. She will learn to be a sheep, she'll learn to join in with the little lamb band of hooligans terrorizing the long suffering moms, she'll learn to skip and jump, use the ewes as trampolines and play fight with the other lambs....who do have a mommy.....there I go again !!!
The valley is resounding with the wishful bellowing of Daisy May the calf who is quite determined to let every bull in the State know that she is " wanting ", We are going to have this wanton wanting behaviour every three weeks until Daisy May is of age to be a mommy so I guess it's ear plugs or turn the radio up to full volume ! Talking of mommys, Molly moo and Dolly our two Dexter cows are growing daily and little Dolly on her 18 inch bow legs is looking more and more like a beached whale. Their calves are due in July, we are looking forward to their arrival. Since the calves were conceived by artificial insemination and Dolly and Molly have never seen a bull we know the exact date they will make their appearance.Next year little Daisy May will be old enough to be a mom too, the neighbors will be happy !
Well, I'm sitting here watching all the comings and goings down at the barn, Charm looking for his buddy Hassan who he loved to hate across the fence. Hassan has gone to learn to be a teenagers dream, I hope the loveable little terrorist behaves himself. I can see the chickens in the Roost pecking and squabling, I can see Bran maintaining his duties, from pen to pasture, running back and forth just in case he misses something.( Nothing goes un- noticed on Brans watch) and I can see Greg, going about the ranch chores without me. Not long now....Iime to move, take a walk or a nap, I'm spoilt for choice. Take care, M
