Malc wobbled high on a ladder all afternoon reinforcing the support beams that would enable Greg to attach the new guttering in time for the rains that we know will eventually come back…with a vengeance. All must have been well, Greg’s critical eye has been cast over the completed work…..and it would appear that he approves…which is always good. Thank’s Malc.
Greg Quatra and Carla got down and dirty in the small irrigation pond by the house. Up to their knees ( and higher !!) in the thickest nastiest smelliest mud ever, the girls…wearing huge muddy smiles emanating from even muddier faces struggled to find the drain. Said drain did not want to be found. Since 2006,a concoction of leaves, dead allsorts, decomposing poo and a variety of prehistoric looking “things” have either forged an existence in the depths of muddy goo or just added to the decay. Qatra and Carla appeared to be as happy as pigs in clover ( or the other) as they sloshed almost knee deep fishing around in the yucky mud to find the elusive cap for the crushed drain. Bones, newts, beetles…everything worth investigating (or not !!) was checked out and if worthy of further scrutiny carefully deposited in apparently bottomless pockets ! I have quickly recognized that plastic sacs in the barn kitchen freezer are not open to investigation from me and hushed conversations between the girls and Greg are most certainly not for my ears. The girls share with Greg an apparently ( to my mind) unhealthy interest in working body parts..that are no longer working, nasty spiders, caterpillars, snakes and bugs!
Today is Daisy May’s appointed day, her udder has been checked (over and over again !!), her nether region is apparently slackened off ( no way to talk about a lady !) and biggest sign of all…..the big black Dexter cow is HORMONAL !!! Hopefully we will have news tomorrow and pictures…lots of pictures !!
Our two new farm residents have settled in nicely. Gentle giant Meadows Ranch Rest/Nursing home for well loved geriatric horses is happy and well. We can be seen standing at a 40 degree slant as we watch T Bone leans further and further to one side then…just when he is about to crash to the ground, he startles himself awake, readjusts… and starts to lean all over again, in the other direction. We are enjoying our two old men and hope that they will both be safe and well for the duration of their time here……please !!!
I’m timed out again, take care, keep safe, M
