It's tough keeping out of trouble !

Oh my gosh !! There's frost on the pumpkin this morning !!! The hail that came down last night is still on the deck, it looks like snow ! I put all my heavy Winter stuff into moth balls and i'm going to have to try and dig it all out again. DOH !! I hope all the lambs are well snuggled up with mom, there doesn't appear to be much movement down in the sheep pen and the chickens are all hiding in the roost.....think I'm going to go back to bed !

I was back down at the barn with Greg yesterday, it felt good. I'm not quite sure just how gentle "gentle sweeping" is.....I tried to be very gentle and the back police kept poking his head round the stall doors to make sure I wasn't breaking doctors orders so I guess I didn't break too many rules. My body thought it had gone into retirement and even walking Charm out to his pasture felt like I'd just done the half marathon. The visiting geese are making their presence felt, we have ariel battles going on overhead as Gertie and Gustav are challenged by the nesting pair and honking and hissing resound through the valley. The goose flattens herself onto the nest whilst the gander agressively enforces a no fly / no go zone around the pond and in the air above......he's very reluctant to even allow us in.... Lady and Quest are just a little to big to argue with but it hasn't stopped him trying !!

Well, it WAS as cold as it looked, the temperature in the barn was 32 degrees and it's mid April ! The barn cats clearly considered it much to cold to be out mousing and all three were curled up toasty warm on the horses Winter blankets which we had foolishly considered redundant until the Autumn. When we shivered our way into the barn this morning, we were greeted with a hearty feline stretch, one eye recognised us as of no significant threat and they all curled up and went back to sleep.

Well, the sun is shining now,  the sheep are out in the pasture , the lambs are creating chaos, the moms unable to keep up with their unruly offspring try to keep pace as they career back and forth, skipping  hopping and leaping round and round. Bandit made a determined effort to rein in her twins and when they left her bulky body in the dust she turned side on and broadsided  the band of hooligans. Like a set of dominoes the lambs tumbled into Bandit who nonchalantly headbutted the nearest trouble makers and loudly chastised her unrepentant offspring . Time to go, Greg is giving Macho Rodney and lambchop a manicure this afternoon, I have been told to keep out of the way and consequently keep out of trouble.....so I'd better go and find out what trouble I'm not allowed to get into !! Take care, M
