Brother John and Jean were here for a short visit (one day). Well.. everyone knows that any visitor has to put in their "time" in exchange for a bed and meal. John got the dubious task of helping Maureen harvest some of the grapes that were just the right sugar content. One asks, how do we know when the sugar content is right? Around here its all based on nature. You have to beat the wasps and bees to the spoils. When you look down the row and its alive with wasps and bees, ITS TIME. Those grapes are reserved for Greg's wine! Besides, they taste good too.Corn was ready too. While waiting for the well to flush after replacing the pressure tanks, Greg went through the corn patch like a crazy deer. Nice thing is Doris the Deer didn't have a chance. Since the corn (and the rest of the veg garden) is in the old chicken coop, might I say with 6 ft high fence, netting overhead and ELECTRIC wire. We are reaping the benefits of the rich chicken manure soil! Still have melons, cucumbers, pumpkin, beets and more to go. Heh, heh, Doris.... Not this year!!
