Good morning friends….what friends we have left !! I think we may be getting put on the “persona non grata” list and it’s not even our fault. We blame Macho, it’s all Macho’s fault that the stench of “wanting” wafts across the valley, the fetid aroma permeates whatever it touches, its clings to our hands, it adheres to clothes and the more he smells……the more he wants to smell. Every buck in the Pacific North West will be envious, every doe will be wishing she was Macho’s girl and we just wish that he would put his “bits” away, stop peeing on himself and stop acting like a Chippendale or Playboy. We tried to postpone his manicure, he smelt so badly that it was hard to get close enough to check his feet, he smelt so badly we didn’t want to HAVE to trim his feet ….but It was time,Greg and Wesley drew the short straws, out came the hoof box, deep breath and a peanut, they were ready!!  Macho was quite happy (at first) to share his smell, he didn’t put up too much opposition to being loaded into the tilt table, he even took a short nap….Greg and Wesley were nauseous…it was nasty, that buck is in the mood for loving and we have a month before we let him set up his boudoir with Alissia. Then it got worse, Macho decided his nap was over, his manicure finished and he was leaving. Now, when a power house that smells as bad as our boy does wants out,..there isn’t a whole lot we can do and we sure DON’T want to get in his way !!! We had to go and get him back and he wasn’t for moving. Greg had his head ( REALLY BAD) and I had to push his butt..nearly as bad and very close to the source of the problem. If he had decided to spray some love around, his manicure WAS over.Greg and Wesley persevered, they will possibly never smell anything properly again and all day, they smelt like Hell !!

After stinking Macho, it was smelly Lamb Chop’s turn and for once the little guy wasn’t the smelliest problem on the ranch !

Whilst Wesley’s nose was completely in shock, Greg assigned our intrepid Woofer Intern to scraping the muck heap…poor Wesley!

After all the various odours, there was only one thing for it and Greg fired up the smoker to make some jerky. When the smoker got going, swirling grey clouds of applewood and willow filled the air, everyone and everything smelt of applewood..soooooo much better than Macho.

Leaving the smelly subjects for now, yesterday saw the hay racks that Derek and Lesley made put up in the sheep pen. They look great and we wish you could see them. Miss you both.

Time to go, its’s 7.26 and it’s Wesleys last day. She leaves tomorrow for California..we are missing her already. Take care, keep safe. M

I tnink I memtioned it once before, isn't there something you can give macho. For diahria we give pepto bismal, so isn't there anything you can give to the animals. Also maybe there is something in the grains that is causing that problem. See you soon.
