Today WAS going to be a good day ! I knew it when I opened one cautious eye this morning. Greg was snoring like a freight train,( I could hear him through the pneumatic strength ear plugs Home Depot are kind enough to stock), the frogs were croaking their morning serenade (that goes on ALL night) and the young roosters down in the barnyard were crowing . Its a lie that roosters crow at dawn...they just start at dawn and continue till the next dawn !!!! BUT..the absence of torrential rain pounding the deck..the rosy glow accross the sky and MJ on the TV at 6am promised sunshine ! My rubber boots lay unloved and limp in the garage together with the over used waterproofs, I didn't need my plastic today wasn't going to be a "bad hair day". I decided today that I was to have a serious discussion with Shy, Tiger and Lucky, the resident (and up to now )very efficient barn cats. There I was, having a conversation with the baby turkeys ( who incidently don't have any conversational skills but down at the barn you take what you get !!) when I looked down and there at my feet sitting on his haunches with his tail wrapped round his butt and a chunk of grain in his paws was a little mouse, so happy with his breakfast he didn't even notice me. I picked him up ( with the grain still in his paws) and popped him in a box ( which had no grain in it !!) and called for reinforcements !!! Before the cavalry arrived the cheeky rodent had done a disappearing act and I had made the decision to cut the cats rations !! ( I PROMISE I did try to deal with it Greg,....but it really was cute). Dolly the mutant cow with 18 inch bow legs and a ton of personality head butted me up the butt today, carrots were not produced at the speed she has come to expect and I was reprimanded, unbalanced, the water bucket went into orbit and I landed in a very strategically placed, steaming and very smelly cow pat......I love that cow ! Got to go, thanks for your comments Anne and Tricia, nice to know someone is out there. Take care. M
