Derek has forged a special bond with little Danielle and Alissia the cutest doelings God ever created and they appear to think he’s pretty cute too. Yesterday as usual Derek disappeared around the corner of the barn, chatting away to the two little doelings firmly attached to their leads and heading for the pasture. There we were, wheelbarrow in hand, shavings fork under one arm, shovel under the other, putting all the wrongs in the world to right under the shade of the willow tree…..then there she was… a little white head tinted with golden brown, head cocked peering around the corner at us. Dereks horrified face was one of my camera moments…but I didn’t have the camera in hand. DOH. Instant thought was the obvious one…the gate hadn’t been closed correctly. Derek needn’t have worried, his little doeling friend had just not had the visiting time she felt she required, hopped the fence and went make his oversight right! Derek persuaded her back with the necessary peanut ( positive reinforcement eh ???) turned his back and over she popped again. When Derek and leslie leave, I guess I’m going to have to check backpacks for two little stowaways!
The team checked out the virtues of home grown rhubarb, well fed and nurtured by healthy home grown manure …and it got favourable reports. Next we are going to try steak and kidney pie, liver and if they get really brave, tea with milk….shock horror!!
Well, it’s time to go, I was having too much fun doing my brain dump and not keeping an eye on the cuckoo clock. Take care, keep safe. M
Oh yes, forgot to mention, lots more photos have been added to the WOOFER site, hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed making them
