Armageddon and Pecan Brownies

Good morning from a still quite grey looking Pacific North West. We have been promised wall to wall sunshine today so there’s only one thing for it…we’ll pull out the furry boots, wool hat umbrella and gloves and keep them ready along with the sun hat sun screen and flip flops! Ready for anything round here!!!!
Yesterday Greg turned the activities from the “amazingly” intensive brain draining knowledge sharing to “amazingly intensive, absolutely exhausting, freaky scary…… our WOOFER interns stepped up to the plate, and by 9pm looked like they had done 3 New York marathons and climbed the Empire State Building. We had a fire to burn the branches that they had pruned from the orchard...that was the easy part. Things got a little more worrysome when said fire decided to try and be a news worthy tip….unfortunately the little fire became a little bigger fire and then decided to eat the tractor. Move the tractor, right…easy…..where’s the tractor key? Happily creating Pecan loaded brownies in the kitchen, I was even more happily unaware that Armageddon could be going off in my back yard, luckily just a little smouldering wood told the story when I passed the “incident” site or I would have been passed out in urgent care…or Greg would for letting it happen. Smile.
Lesley took on the little John Deere tractor mower and it won! Poor Lesley was balanced on the edge of a precipice..well, a little hill …..but it looked steep from the back of the mower! Everytime she started the mower it stopped, she tried to go backwards… and it stopped. A conservative estimate of the extent of Lesley’s mowing is possibly 3 blades of grass but Lesley doesn’t give up and todays project is …mow the orchard. Our thoughts are with you Lesley!!

Well, it’s still not sunny, the clouds are still with us but we live in hope. Got to go, another fun filled day..take care, keep well.  M

PS. Everybodys moms and mum out there looking for pictures to prove your loved ones are still safe and well, Greg got awkward and photos have been downloaded onto the WOOFER site not the Almost Daily Diary. DOH !!

You probaly would be behind bars today if you pulled that stunt by us. If you have been hearing the news the whole state of N.M. has a fire going somewhere. I think all the fires put together are the size of Albuquerque we are told. Take it easy. Mom
