Well, our young WOOFER Intern Holly REALLY set the bar yesterday, I threw out the challenge for a guest editor and smiling, ( as usual) Holly put on my editor hat and did a great job. Thank you Holly, it gave me the chance to give myself a face job, hairdo and manicure…( I wish !!) but it did give me time to do some stuff that was getting well overdue.
Talking of stuff getting overdue, Greg and the A team have been catching up on inside work due to the wet stuff that continues to fall over the Pacific North West. All around the barn scurrying around like little ants on a mission our WOOFER friends with wrenches hammers paintbrushes and big smiles went to work on their assignments. Somewhere in the depths of the barn Derek has my screen door. My screen door seriously needed some major surgery, it not only let the flies in, Daisy May, Molly and Dolly moo with bovine bumps could have got through the screen door hole too!!!..Now I’m not sure, and I hesitate to enquire but I am wondering if it it died and like other expirees is buried in the depths of the boneyard to reappear as firewood sometime in the deep midwinter freeze. Leslie is I think preparing herself for a re run of Chainsaw Massacres and stands resolutely in the dusty corner running chain after chain through the chain sharpener ( chain saw fixer!!). Holly not only stacked the firewood.”nicely” Greg reported ( so what is it when I do it ??) but she is busily working on our new roadside egg sign, a beautiful neon yellow that she has cut planed and painted with a lot of blood sweat and smiles. ( it’s ok Angie, we haven’t let Holly bleed, just an old English saying,..slightly amended!) Heaven help anyone who tries to re appropriate Holly’s sign, she is quite (very!) proud of it! Holly has also been promoted to cleaning Charms hooves ( as opposed to watching tutor Greg), and confidently lifted and picked all 4 feet whilst Mr Charm happily chomped on his supper. Quatre went to work repairing our childrens bench. It would appear that now a child can actually sit on the bench without breaking a leg (or worse) and causing our insurance company a major issue with a million dollar law suit. Talking of Insurance claims…I’m not sure who Greg could claim against but yesterday he apparently fell over a log that " moved"! Greg is always the biggest advocate for safety so I am sure that the offending piece of wood not only "moved" but intentionally tripped him up! It is now planks of wood that are good enough to grace the shelves of Home Depot and will come in very useful...providing it doesn't try and maim Greg again ( in which case, I will personally put it on the burn pile!).
Well, timed out again, the fog is lifting and MJ, Fox 13 weather lady said it was going to be a nice day..we wont hold our breath but we live in hope. Take care, keep safe, M
