Hay Time Can Be Fun!?
Friends (Conscripts) Helping Buck Hay
There is a certain time of year down on the Ranch.....very warm (not good, too many flies), dry.(.oops, again not good, fields dry up) ..it's called the "haying season". Here at Gentle Giant Meadows Ranch, Haytime is met with both enthusiasm and dread. It's a time when we get out of bed in the morning (5am), actually, if I'm really honest, Greg does and he brings me a steaming cup of tea to persuade me that 5.20am really does mean time to rise and (nearly) shine. Down to the barn, roust the critters who also aren't too keen to leave their warm stalls and gather the tools of the day. We used to have family from England who, used to soggy wet Summers flocked to the farm for a peek at the sun, getting wise, our June "guests" have slid their vacation time to later Summer months, for a while, we couldn't work out why. mmmmm .As a consequence of this neglection of duty I have grown muscles where I didn't know I had muscles and Greg has got quite hunky ( well, I am biased !!!). We need conscripts..I mean volunteers, who are willing to join us. We can't afford wages ( I get paid less than an illegal immigrant !) but we would like to think that you will have fun and after its all done we arrange an "after haying barbeque". If you are interested in joining us for a hands-on real life farming experience, please call, we would love to hear from you and we promise to be gentle (ish) with you.
